At 4:00 pm, Jan.9th, 2016, New Delhi time, more than 60 famous publishers including India NCBA, Royal Collins, many Indian publishing houses as well as the Chinese publishing groups from An Hui, Guang Dong, Zhe Jiang, Fu Jian, Si Chuan provinces, jointly held the foundation ceremony of Sino-Indian Book Publication Culture Cooperation Alliance and the awarding ceremony at the Indian International Center, New Delhi. Mr. Sun Shou-Shan, Vice Minister of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television ( SAPPRFT ), and Shri Baldeo Bhai Sharma, Chairman of NBT were present at this event. They awarded the prizes to the Chinese and Indian publishers who won the different honors.

India is the sixth largest publishing market in the world and its market scale is only second to China and Japan. China attended this New Delhi World Book Fair for the first time as the honor guest country. The Indian Government highly values the visit of the Chinese publishing delegation, giving the upmost support to all the delegation’s preparation work for this fair. In order to show gratitude to Vice Minister, Mr. Sun Shou-Shan who led the delegation to attend this fair, Mr. Sharma specially availed himself of this alliance foundation ceremony and the awarding ceremony occasion to award the Friendship Award of Sino-Indian Book Publication to Mr. Sun Shou-Shan, while, Mr. Sun Shou-Shan also presented the Friendship Award of Sino-Indian Book Publication to Chairman Sharma in return. Since then it has become a much told story in the Chinese and Indian Publication industries.

With the rapid development of the Chinese economy, China has become the second largest publishing market in the world. The Indian publication industry is highly oriented to the global market with the reputation of being the third largest English Language publishing market in the world. Compared with the Sino-Indian trade exchanges, the Sino-Indian publication communication is not wide yet. China and India both have ancient civilizations and they both have the biggest publishing market scale in Asia. Regardless of the copyright trade and the international publication trade, there is a great hidden growth potentiality. Royal Collins, as the transnational publication company with affiliates both in China and India, highly values the communication and the cooperation between the Chinese and Indian publication industries. With the efforts following 2015BIBF and the support of NCBA, Royal Collins finally facilitated the success of this event.

After the event was completed, many Indian publishers were all excited. There had never been a communication event for the Sino-Indian book publication in so many years. Mr. Sharma, Chairman of NBT specially mentioned in his address that many Indian local publishers do not emphasize the publication in Hindi, the native language for the account of economic benefits. Out of his expectation, the publication plan for Hindi translation of 25 books is specially mentioned in the Chinese and Hindi translation plan for Chinese and Indian books. He is much appreciated for the Chinese Government and the Chinese publication industry who support and pay attention to the Sino-Indian culture communication.

After the event, Mr. Bob Song, partner and Asia-Pacific CEO of Royal Collins said, “We will make consistent efforts to facilitate the communication and cooperation between the Chinese and Indian publication industries”.
