Mr. Baldeo Bhai Sharma, Chairman of National Book Trust, Government of India met Chinese Publisher’s Delegation in his office on 25th April, 2017. The delegation was guided by Mr. Bob Song, Chairman of Afro-Asian Book Council and President of Royal Collins.

The Chinese Publisher’s Delegation was led by Mr. Li Yongqiang, President of China Renmin University Press and Ms. Yoland Liu, the Director of China Renmin University Press. Ms. Jessica Tian, the Coordinator of China Renmin University was the interpreter of this delegation.

Chairman Sharma warmly welcomed CRUP’s visit to India. He went over the great cooperation between Indian publishing industry and Chinese publishing industry, especially in 2016. It was the first time that China became the honor guest country of New Delhi World Book Fair. Mr. Li Yongqiang reported to Chairman Sharam that CRUP was one of the most important members of China pavilion in 2016 New Delhi World Book Fair. As one of the Top 10 Chinese publishers, CRUP paid more attention to Indian market. The company would publish more titles in Hindi and other Indian local languages.

Chairman Sharma was very happy to know CRUP’s effort. He highly praised CRUP’s creation and the contribution of Royal Collins. He hoped that CRUP should publish some Indian books in Chinese as well. He arranged the official from NBT to lead the delegation to visit National Book Shop, National Children’s Book Center, NBT’s building and NBT’s Big Book Bus after the meeting.

In this happy 40 minutes meeting, Mr. Bob Song reported to Chairman Sharma on how Royal Collins improved the culture exchange between China and India. “ We have signed the contract with CRUP before we visit you, Sir. We will publish two or three CRUP’s titles in Hindi language and launch in 2018 New Delhi World Book Fair. Please attend our function as the Chief Guest, Sir.”, said Mr. Bob Song. Chairman Sharman accepted this invitation very happily.

The Chinese Publisher’s Delegation was invited and organized by Royal Collins. During CRUP’s visit, Royal Collins had reached a lot of consensus with China Renmin University Press. “ Chairman Sharma hoped me to organize more Chinese publishers to visit India last year, we need more communication to improve Sino-Indian publishing cooperation. I think one successful example is more important than thousands of words. So if this cooperation can make success, I believe more Chinese publishers will follow up.”, said Mr. Bob Song.
